Garvey "The Chosen One"

I've been hearing a lot of talk about this guy lately so i decided to look him up on youtube. I've heard everything from he's the next rapper to make it out of D.C. to he's better then Wale! Wow is he really that good? My first time watching this video i was distracted and couldn't concentrate (not in a good way) on the lyrics due to the amount of a** all over the place. But as i listened the second time around i think his lyrics are ok and he caters more to the streets. Unlike Wale who caters to everyone and is beyond lyrically talented. Don't get me wrong i do see potential in Garvey "The Chosen One" but not as a mainstream artist. I'll let you decide!
Shout Out to Bob Smoke for creating this video! :)

DIGGY SIMMONS HAS A MIX-TAPE!!!!

As i was doing my daily website scroll, I came across Diggy Simmons mix-tape on www.Datpiff.com. WOW is the first thing i thought to myself! Then i asked myself what does Diggy have to rap about? Im still lost! Even though im not a fan of the mix-tape i have to say its a lot better then JoJo Simmons attempt to be rapper! (Team Black-Out )

SHOULD DJ's ALWAYS STAY IN THEIR LANE?

So this is something that has been on my mind for the longest! DJs' get paid to keep the party going right? That means playing the hottest music and hyping the crowd up. If your a DJ and you mix and play strictly hip hop and r&b why are you trying to mix Electra and pop music? What is up with DJs' trying to be rappers now? I respect people like DJ Khaled; he doesn't try to rap he brings the hottest rappers and singers together and he mixes and puts out some of the most dope music. I understand everyone wants to venture off into new areas of their talent, but don't do it trying to follow in the footsteps of your competition!

GETTING RECORD LABELS TO SIGN YOU:

Many people have dreams of making millions in the music industry but do they really have what it takes? I'm going to give you a few suggestions for getting yourself noticed by record labels and A&R reps.

1. Talent: Anyone can make a song but that doesn't mean your music sounds good. Invest in quality production and have knowledge in your music genre.

2.Appearance: Record labels look for people who not only are talented but appealing and marketable. For instance if your trying to appeal to woman you should have a certain sex appeal about you. If your trying to appeal to the streets you don't want to have a preppy look. In this industry appearance means a lot!

3. Your Package (these can be deal breakers) your package is everything and should include:
-Cover Letter
-Cd containing your music (nicely packaged and of high quality)
-Biography(one page long with relative information)
-Photo (8x10) Investing in a professional photographer is great, but if you don't have that kind of money try to find a college student majoring in photography

After you have your package together start sending them out to the appropriate people. Calling the offices first is always recommended. It allows you to make sure you have the correct address and gives them a heads up that something is coming their way.

A&R Reps (Artist Repertoire Rep)
These are the people who sign and develop an artist career. Sending your package to them is ideal.

Remember that Record labels are only worried about your music and rather or not they can sell it. have as much knowledge as you can about this industry! Its a hard game to play. begin
